Spackle and cake frosting are not the same thing

So apparently spackle is not supposed to be applied like cake frosting. It looks like vanilla cake frosting and I’ve never really used it (ok, I’ve never ever used it) so I related it to the one thing that I know which is cake frosting. I was frosting away at some holes in my old bedroom and wasn’t really making much progress. My dad said the stuff was easy to use and would dry really fast and the whole thing just looked like shit and it wasn’t drying fast at all. I had clearly forgotten that his definition of fast is an hour or more, whereas anything that takes me longer than five minutes typically pisses me off. Right as I was about to make an even bigger mess a boy arrived. My good friend duke saved the day, showed me everything I was doing incorrectly and patiently explained (over a glass of wine) that no matter how hard I tried, there was no way the project would be completed in the three hours I’d allotted. Thank God for the wine and for duke because I was not pleased. I had to go back last night and completed the job in my work suit, pearls, and a new haircut and the end product looked pretty sweet. I will probably never use spackle again, at least now I know how it doesn’t dry quickly and should not be applied like cake frosting. Thanks duke
