for some reason we all think we have far more control over the outcome of things than we actually do.  at some point we become people who have to plan, make to do lists, and i guess most importantly we begin to decide what we think our lives are going to look like.  based on these plans and ideas we make assumptions and in the midst of all the planning and envisioning we forget about the impermanence of all things and the general tendancy for the worst and most unexpected things to happen the fastest.  i would be a hypocrite (with my weekly three-page to do lists) if i were to say we shouldn’t plan for the future, but i guess at the end of the day what is most important is that we plan for today.  what really matters to you? what will you regret not doing? who will you miss most when this part of your life is over?
“That nothing is static or fixed, that all is fleeting and impermanent, is the first mark of existence. It is the ordinary state of affairs. Everything is in process. Everything—every tree, every blade of grass, all the animals, insects, human beings, buildings, the animate and the inanimate—is always changing, moment to moment.”
